Imbolc, Bealtaine, Lughnasa and Samhain are old Irish festivals that mark the solar year and are often considered the days when the veil between worlds are thin and the seasons are on the cusp of change. Celebrating the coming of summer, the harvest, and the beginnings of the ‘darker half’ of the year. Centred around Gaelic tradition this piece is inspired by the celebration of seasons, the creatures, music, festivity and wonder that flies high.

‘Lirs Children’
This piece is specifically inspired by the Irish legend ‘The children of Lir’ A tragedy following the lives of the four children of King Lir. The four children were turned into swans by their stepmother and cursed into exile for 900 years.
It is a poignant story and powerful one. A story of loss, love, family and the heartbreak of being unable to return home as well as the embrace between father and child.

‘Recitals after the rain’
The floods have passed through, the rains have finally cleared and the sun returns. Creatures of all sorts re-emerge. Fish kings and queens of the river system, birds and RattKats emerge to return to the songs that were left unsung, the stories left half told , plays left incomplete and the conversations left unfinished. The strange worlds keep turning and the rains have come and gone.
